IAR Systems and Express Logic form an IoT Development Partnership to provide easier and faster development of connected applications
embedded world, Nuremberg, Germany—February 23, 2016—IAR Systems®, the world’s leading vendor of embedded development tools, and Express Logic, Inc., the worldwide leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOSes), announce the formation of an IoT Development Partnership, in order to provide customers with easier, secure, and faster development, resulting in shorter time to market for connected applications.
With embedded applications continuously growing in complexity, the need for pre-integrated solutions and complete development platforms is increasing. IAR Systems and Express Logic have responded to this need with increased collaboration. The innovative Renesas Synergy Platform™ highlights one such example where tools from both companies play vital roles. Now, with the IoT Development Partnership, the companies plan to focus on additional opportunities to tightly integrate their products, providing developers with tools that are secure and easier to use out-of-the-box.
“New markets and increased consolidations within the embedded industry drive the creation of new and evolved ecosystems,” says Stefan Skarin, CEO, IAR Systems. “In this changing landscape, vendors need to work together at a deeper level to accommodate our customers’ demand for integrated, secure, and highly available technology. Renesas has taken a leap with the Renesas Synergy platform, and we are glad to be part of it, along with our partner, Express Logic. We will continue to form strategic relationships as part of this paradigm shift within the embedded industry.”
“We are pleased to reach this mutual agreement, taking our partnership with IAR Systems to the next level,” says William E. Lamie, President, Express Logic, Inc. “Thanks to the longstanding relationship between Express Logic and IAR Systems, we have a large number of joint customers with varied and complex requirements that include security. Our recently announced X-Ware Secure Platform™ is based on IAR Embedded Workbench and is a direct result of our IoT Development Partnership. Going forward, we will continue to intensify our work together in order to provide value for all of our customers, both within the innovative Renesas Synergy Platform and in other forms.”
IAR Embedded Workbench is a complete set of development tools incorporating IDE tools, the highly optimizing IAR C/C++ Compiler™ and the comprehensive C-SPY® Debugger. The tools offer extensive support for devices from all major vendors. Express Logic’s ThreadX® RTOS has been deployed in more than 5.4 Billion products (see Express Logic release on this topic) in the fields of consumer electronics, industrial control, medical devices, and wireless networking.
The extensive integration of IAR Embedded Workbench and the ThreadX RTOS provides a high level of intuitiveness and efficiency, including features such as 100% MISRA-compliant C/C++ source code, single-click integration of the C-SPY Debugger with Express Logic’s TraceX™, and best-of-class RTOS awareness, providing insight into application execution performance as well as RTOS objects such as threads, message queues, semaphores, and mutexes. In addition to ThreadX, Express Logic provides extensive middleware, including integrated TCP/IP stacks, an embedded file system, USB protocol stacks and an embedded graphical user interface development toolkit—all fully integrated with IAR Embedded Workbench.
